Description

Jason Pressman is a Co- Founder and serves as Managing Director & Partner at Shasta Ventures. He also is an Angel Investor. He serves as the Board of Directors at Deep Sentinel. He leads the enterprise practice at Shasta Ventures and invests across a range of sectors including enterprise software, SaaS, cloud and consumer services. A company builder who played an integral role in the development of one of today's largest online businesses, Jason acts as a thought partner, advocate and counselor to entrepreneurs looking to take their companies from initial proof of product-market fit to industry dominance. As a partner at Shasta, Jason has been an active investor in cloud computing, with an emphasis on next-generation applications, systems management and open source software. His previous investments include Makara (acquired by RedHat) and iConclude (acquired by Opsware). Jason currently serves on the boards of application performance management startup Crittercism, Scala open source software platform Typesafe and SaaS subscription billing company Zuora, as well as local social guide Nextdoor and mobile platform Smule. Prior to joining Shasta in 2005, Jason was Vice President, Strategy and Operations at venture-backed Walmart.com, where he took the online retailer from zero to large scale revenue in five years. His experience growing that business into one of largest retailers online informs his understanding of how to thoughtfully scale fast-growing businesses, as well as how to use software to improve operations. Previously, Jason worked as an investment banker to venture-backed companies at Alex.Brown. Jason earned an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business and a BS in Finance from University of Maryland.

How to connect with Angel Investors in the Cloud Services industry?

In the Cloud Services & Infrastructure industry, angel investors such as Marc Benioff, Tim Ferriss, and Naval Ravikant are significant figures. These investors focus on startups offering innovative solutions in cloud computing, infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS), and cloud security. Marc Benioff, CEO of Salesforce, invests in cloud startups that enhance enterprise efficiency and data management. Tim Ferriss, an author and entrepreneur, looks for companies that leverage cloud technology to provide scalable and efficient solutions. Naval Ravikant, co-founder of AngelList, seeks out startups with strong cloud infrastructure capabilities and market potential. To connect with these investors, attend cloud computing conferences, tech expos, and networking events such as AWS re:Invent, Google Cloud Next, and Cloud Expo. Utilize platforms like AngelList and LinkedIn to identify and reach out to potential investors. When pitching, emphasize how your cloud services or infrastructure solution addresses key challenges, such as improving data security, enhancing scalability, or reducing operational costs. Highlight any traction you’ve gained, such as partnerships with tech companies, user growth, or positive feedback from clients. Building relationships through initial informal meetings or discussions at industry panels can help establish trust with these investors. Demonstrating the impact of your technology through case studies or user testimonials can also add credibility. Personalize your outreach by referencing the investor’s previous investments and explaining how your venture aligns with their interests. Demonstrating a sustainable business model with clear revenue streams, such as subscription fees, licensing, or usage-based pricing, will further strengthen your pitch. Leveraging endorsements or case studies from cloud computing experts can also enhance your credibility.
