AboutBijan Sabet was sworn in as U.S. Ambassador to the Czech Republic in December 2022 and served until January 20, 2025. He led one of America’s key diplomatic missions in Central Europe, working to strengthen NATO, expand economic ties, and advance shared democratic values. He also focused on public diplomacy—engaging with students and young leaders across the country to support the next generation of transatlantic partnership.
Before his diplomatic role, Bijan co-founded Spark Capital, where he spent nearly two decades helping early-stage founders build iconic technology companies. He was one of the earliest investors in Twitter, joining the board in 2008 when the company had fewer than 12 employees. Spark’s investments include Anthropic, Scale AI, Coinbase, Wayfair, Oculus, Slack, Tumblr, Cruise, Warby Parker, Discord, and Stack Overflow—companies that went on to create tens of thousands of jobs globally.
He has served as a trustee of Boston College, St. Mark’s School, and Beaver Country Day School. He and his wife Lauren have three kids.
