What is CityStar?

CityStar is a family investment company that was established in 2003, headquartered in Paris. They specialize in private equity and real estate investments across France and Southeast Asia.

They allocate 60% of their capital to real estate, focusing on operations with property developers in France. Their portfolio diversification also includes renovation projects, property management, hotel management, and promotional operations.

In real estate, the priority in Southeast Asia is mostly on land and hotel operations. In the private equity sector, CityStar invests alongside entrepreneurs across various industries, with specializations in real estate, technology (IT & TMT), and CleanTech energies.

They focus on companies with strong management teams and potential for growth, investing in healthy enterprises aiming to support their growth and performance for sustainable value creation.

CityStar typically engages in majority stakes and leveraged buyout (LBO) transactions targeting companies with annual revenues ranging from 5 to 100 million euros. However, they remain open to opportunities that do not specifically fit into these criteria.

As a lead shareholder, they play a significant role in the operations they support, forming close partnerships with the project teams and leading executives. CityStar has offices in Paris, Singapore (since 2005), and Phnom Penh (2006), enabling them to leverage regional market expertise and a diversified network.

As a socially responsible actor, CityStar is signatory to the AFIC Charter of Investors' Commitment to Growth. The president and founder, Jean-Louis Charon, has a background in industry and strategic positions in prominent corporations before establishing CityStar. Charon's educational background includes prestigious institutions such as l’École Polytechnique and des Ponts et Chaussées.
