What is StartHer?

StartHer is a micro fund that focuses on fostering meaningful connections within the venture capital landscape by investing in women and underrepresented founders. Their aim is to challenge the biases in venture capital and to provide access to the critical but often elusive 'friends and family' round of funding.

Recognizing that many founders lack the personal networks to secure such early investments, StartHer aims to democratize the fundraising process by offering a fair chance to diverse entrepreneurs representing all ages, life stages, ethnicities, and sexual orientations. StartHer primarily invests in early-stage, pre-seed businesses that aspire to create a positive societal, healthcare, or environmental impact. They uniquely understand the challenges of entrepreneurship mixed with family responsibilities, the unseen labor carried by women daily, the motherhood tax, and its effects on women's entrepreneurial opportunities.

StartHer offers funding alongside mentorship and strategic networking opportunities to empower founders from the outset and level the playing field in starting a business. Their investment range typically spans from a minimum of $25,000 to a maximum of $50,000, with a sweet spot investment of around $38,000, specializing in the initial pre-seed and seed stages of a company's growth.

Investee companies can expect not only financial resources but also the chance to connect with a network of professionals and mentors determined to bolster founders' success. Their investment committee members include notable figures such as Michelle Kennedy, founder & CEO of Peanut, Brnice Magistretti, a femtech journalist and angel investor, Anu Duggal, Founding Partner of Female Founders Fund, among others.

Submissions for funding consideration are welcomed on a rolling basis through their platform, signifying their openness and ongoing search for impactful ventures.
