What is Footwork?

Footwork is an early-stage venture capital firm that leads and co-leads Seed and Series A investment rounds. Focused on nurturing the growth of consumer technology and the consumerization of enterprise technology, the firm commits to companies showcasing early signs of product-market fit.

With a particular interest in Health and Wellness, Footwork strives to support companies that are innovating in various industries such as Software, Business Solutions, Retail and E-commerce, HealthTech and Fitness, Medical Devices and Hospital Services, and Consumer Healthcare and Wellness.

The firm explicitly states a lack of interest in companies that are pre-launch.

Footwork was launched in April 2021 with a $175 million Fund I and has made investments in numerous startups, including but not limited to Table22, Cradlewise, Trendsi, Portex, Heard, Felt, Power, ReflexAI, WindBorne, Watershed, Tracksuit, and GPTZero. With assets under management amounting to $150 million, Footwork's investment range is between $1 million and $10 million, with a sweet spot of approximately $5 million for investments.

Mike Smith, a former President and COO at Stitch Fix who played a critical role from the company's inception to its IPO and beyond, and Nikhil Basu Trivedi, a previous Managing Director at Shasta Ventures with a history of successful investments, lead the firm. Both have significant experience and a profound understanding of strategic maneuvering in response to new opportunities. The firm stands out for their equal partnership model, combining investing and operating experience to back founders building the next generation of category-defining companies.
