What is Food Angels?

Food Angels is an angel network consisting of completely independent individuals who collaborate to provide support and investments to innovative enterprises in the food sector.

The members combine their knowledge and expertise in food, including research and development (R&D), across various domains such as entrepreneurship in both old and new economies, business and transactional law, including specialization in United States law, and financial acumen, forming a robust mix of competencies.

The network positions itself not merely as classical business angels but also as long-term partners and mentors to start-ups in the food industry.

Their objective is to furnish budding and promising food start-ups with capital, expertise, and access to their professional network to win in new markets and ensure sustainable growth. Food Angels typically invests in young food and food tech start-ups at different stages, ranging from the product development phase to early-market introduction of market-ready products.

Their involvement continues into later stages to support dynamic start-ups in stabilizing their growth. Their investment strategy encompasses Pre-Seed, Early Stage, and Series A investments. They often collaborate as co-investors alongside public institutions, venture capital/private equity companies, family offices, and other business angels.

Food Angels maintain an expanded network comprising food companies, institutions, VC/private equity firms, family offices, business angels, and successful founders, enabling constant dialogue and support for innovation and investment development within a strong environment. The network provides start-ups with access to this pool of resources along with active support where necessary.

Günther Rodemeyer, Horst Schlegel, Alexander von Wedel, and Daniel von Wedel, all contributing their unique experiences and skill sets to further the network's mission and support for the food sector entrepreneurship.
