What is Makalani Management?

Makalani Management Company (Pty) Ltd, also known as Makalani, is a seasoned fund manager that was founded in 2005 and operates out of South Africa.

Their primary business is the management of mezzanine asset portfolios, with a specific focus on originating deals, structuring mezzanine and debt financing, and overseeing portfolio management. Initially, Makalani managed a mezzanine asset portfolio as part of Makalani Holdings Ltd, referred to as Fund I, which was valued at R2.5 billion.

Fund I has since been fully invested and is currently in the process of returning funds to its investors. In the wake of Fund I's full investment, Makalani has begun preparations to raise capital for a second mezzanine fund, Fund II, targeting a sum of R1 billion.

Fund II aims to attract a diverse range of South African and foreign investors. As an empowered capital partner, Makalani offers a multi-discipline approach to fund management and provides additional services including fixed income, fiduciary management, and financial advisory services.
