What is future energy ventures?

Future Energy Ventures (FEV) is a venture capital firm that focuses on catalyzing the energy transition and contributing to the decarbonization of society. With an eye towards fostering the future of energy, FEV supports start-ups mainly in Europe, Israel, and the USA that are ready to scale.

The firm seeks out digital, scalable, and asset-light companies that are beyond the seed stage, preferably in Series A or later, and that have already demonstrated product-market fit. Emphasizing the importance of digitalization, the firm aims to back innovative companies creating digital technologies or technologies enabled by digital solutions that have potential to redefine energy landscape. FEV takes a comprehensive approach by not only investing in energy-centric startups but also looking at nascent industry touchpoints such as PropTech, FinTech, IoT, CleanTech, Blockchain, Real Estate, and Woman Focused industries.

Preferring investments in the range of €1-5 million for Series A and €5-10 million for later stages, FEV targets a 10-20% equity stake. They do not require companies to be based in Germany despite the firm's headquarters being in Essen, Nordrhein-Westfalen.

Their areas of interest include energy solutions like energy storage, distribution, and management, future mobility tech, and smart urban infrastructure.

Additionally, frontier tech such as AI, blockchain, big data, and IoT plays a crucial role in their investment focus. FEV is backed by significant partners and leverages an expansive network that includes its largest partner E.ON, as well as other strategic players in various sectors worldwide. They engage in active collaboration and support for their portfolio companies through funding, mentoring, strategic guidance, and providing connections, with an aim to secure either a board seat or observer role.

Despite not functioning as an operational VC, FEV offers assistance in fundraising and recruiting to its founders. FEV leads investment rounds on a case-by-case basis and is set apart by its integrated collaboration platform and network of committed partners.
