Founded in 2000, Dragonfly Capital is a merchant-banking firm focusing primarily on the specific needs of management and owners of small and middle-market companies. Dragonfly Capital works with companies in emerging industries (such as life sciences, entertainment, transportation, communications, and information technology) and traditional industries (such as manufacturing, distribution, and business services). The firm invests in companies with a revenue of $5 to $100 million and the majority of its transactions are in the $5 million to $150 million range. In connection with private placements, as part of the firm's investment banking relationship with its clients, Dragonfly takes part of its success fees in the form of equity. Dragonfly may also invest its own capital in sellside or recapitalization transactions alongside financial buyers or investors.
