Through a family of private equity funds, BBH has been investing in closely-held private companies since 1989. The firm has approximately $2 billion of capital deployed across a range of industries. BBH is currently an active participant in the private equity market through BBH Capital Partners III, L.P., which invests $20 million to $50 million in lower middle market companies with enterprise values ranging between $20 million and $400 million. The firm invests any combination of subordinated debt, preferred and/or common equity in either minority (non-control) or majority (control) ownership positions. The 1818 SBIC Fund provides a source of junior capital to private companies in a wide range of industries. The funds typically provide financing for the following transactions: Management or Leveraged Buyouts; Recapitalizations; Acquisitions; and Expan-sions/Growth. The firm's 1818 SBIC Fund seeks to invest $3 million to $5 million per transaction in companies with enterprise values ranging from $10 million to $75 million. For mezzanine/subordinated debt transactions of more than $5 million, the firm also operates the 1818 Mezzanine Funds. The firm is currently investing through its fourth fund which has committed capital of $517.5 million.
