What is Bandwidth Barn?

Bandwidth Barn (BWB), based in Cape Town since 2000, is a prominent ICT business incubator that aims to accelerate business growth in the ICT sector of the Western Cape. They support Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) in the Province by helping them establish themselves, commercialize new products and services, and contribute to job creation, wealth generation, and economic diversification in the community.

Their strategies are implemented through the Accel Enterprise Development Programme, which encompasses various initiatives like Velociti, My Business Group, My Mentor, and Women in ICT enterprise development programs, in addition to ICT awareness efforts such as Youth in IT and VIP Graduate.

BWB is part of a larger entity, UVU Africa, which is a Non-Profit Company focused on building future-fit, inclusive societies through technology and innovation.

UVU Africa's initiatives include CAPACITI which equips individuals with technical skills and soft skills for the modern digital workplace, Injini that advances educational outcomes in Africa, UVU Accelerate that empowers entrepreneurs with tech enablement, mentorship, and ecosystem access, UVU Bio which fosters the bio-economy through entrepreneurial innovation and skills development, and Khayelitsha Bandwidth Barn which offers a space for innovators and entrepreneurs in the township economy to collaborate and build businesses.

Collectively, these initiatives demonstrate BWB's multi-faceted approach to fostering ICT development, entrepreneurial growth, and innovation in Africa.
