The Kansas Bioscience Authority (KBA) is a strategic investment organization focused on the growth and development of the bioscience sector in Kansas, as envisioned by the state legislature in 2004. Their core mission is to foster an economic environment where bioscience companies can thrive and contribute to the Kansas economy. The KBA accomplishes this by selectively partnering with bioscience entities ranging from companies, inventors, entrepreneurs, to investment professionals who have the potential to substantially enhance the bioscience industry within the region. To qualify for partnership or assistance, entities must be primarily engaged in a bioscience-related process, product, or service. Additionally, these entities should possess or be in the process of obtaining or licensing protected, proprietary intellectual property. A further condition for partnership includes a minimum cash investment of $25,000 by the company's management or founding members. KBA offers resources such as the Venture Accelerator, a state-of-the-art 39,000-square-foot Gold LEED-certified facility designed to support emerging bioscience organizations aiming to bring their discoveries to market. The accelerator provides a conducive environment for startups within the 92-acre Kansas Bioscience Park, located strategically in the Kansas City Animal Health Corridor with easy access to interstate highways. Through these initiatives, KBA is not just an investment management firm but a dedicated agency with the purpose of merging bioscience innovation with business acumen to realize economic growth in the state of Kansas.
