Halo Funds, also known as The Halo Fund, is a limited partnership venture fund linked to The Angels' Forum (TAF), focusing on early-stage investments predominantly within the Silicon Valley/Bay Area. The fund has been active since 1997 and involves a group of 25 private equity investors who are aided by a professional financial services management team. Halo Funds primarily supports startups and companies operating in a variety of industries such as IT, software (including Web, Marketplace, and SaaS offerings), education, hardware and manufacturing, energy, CleanTech, and life sciences. Their investment strategy is decidedly regional, as they only invest in companies that are headquartered within 50 miles of Mountain View, California. They carefully screen over 20 deals per week, aiming to make 5-15 Series A round investments each year. The initial investment amounts typically range from $100,000 to $1 million. Halo Funds works in partnership with TAF; often, The Halo Fund matches the investments made by The Angels' Forum dollar for dollar. However, in certain conditions, The Halo Fund may increase their match up to $1.50 for every TAF dollar invested. Collectively, TAF and Halo Funds can contribute up to $3 million in a single investment. This synergy allows them to leverage the insights and expertise of angel investors while providing additional financial resources through the venture fund to fuel the growth of promising ventures in their chosen regions and sectors.
