What is Long Island Angel Network?

The Long Island Angel Network (LIAN) is a non-profit entity dedicated to providing seed-stage and early-stage capital to start-ups and young businesses. With an eye for fostering innovation and growth within the region, LIAN places a strong emphasis on supporting companies able to relocate to Long Island if they secure an investment.

The network is interested in a broad range of industries, focusing on domains such as software, information technology, biotechnology, nanotechnology, medicine, and energy, reflecting a commitment to advancing next-generation technologies.

Over the past four years, LIAN has evaluated more than 600 funding applications, a testament to its role as a critical resource for capital-seeking enterprises in and around Long Island. An intricate part of LIAN's model involves a rigorous selection process, where approximately two dozen applications are reviewed during each monthly meeting of the LIAN Board of Directors.

Investments by LIAN are notable in that the network seeks to embed itself as an early contributor, with both minimum and maximum funding amounts set at $1,000,000, denoting its capability to be a sole investor or participate alongside other financiers. As an angel network, LIAN plays a pivotal role in the entrepreneurial ecosystem by providing not just financing, but also guidance and networking opportunities to nascent companies poised for growth.
