What is CAPNOVA A/S?

CAPNOVA A/S is primarily a management company for the Midtjyske Iværksætter Fond (Midtjyske Entrepreneur Fund), focusing on innovative entrepreneurial companies, predominantly from the Central Denmark Region.

This fund has a keen interest in companies that emerge from or are associated with regional educational institutions. Midtjyske Iværksætter Fond strives to syndicate investments with Business Angels or other investors, who are validated by the fund in relation to each specific investment.

Although CAPNOVA itself no longer makes direct investments, they were previously involved as an investment environment from 1998 until the scheme's expiration in 2018, during which time they invested risk capital in about 300 startup companies through a combination of state funding and capital from the individual investment environment.

After the scheme ended, CAPNOVA managed a portfolio of approximately 110 companies and was appointed by the state as an exit operator to wind these companies down from 2019 until the end of 2023.

Following the completion of this task, CAPNOVA holds a few independent investments in entities such as Resother Pharma and Clearview Trade. CAPNOVA has a track record of supporting innovative ideas on their path to becoming successful enterprises.

The fund is known for its expertise in debt and equity, specializing in seed, startup, and early-stage investments. Operating as a venture capital fund, it has been nurturing ventures across sectors including IT, TMT, BioTech, Hardware, Manufacturing, Energy, Entertainment, Sports, CleanTech, Material Science, Medical Devices, and Hospital Services.
