Their financial commitments to companies range from a minimum of $100,000 to a maximum of $5,000,000, with a sweet spot of $1,500,000 for investment allocations. As part of their investment philosophy, they made an inaugural investment in Portal Innovations, a Chicago-based incubator for life sciences, medtech, and bioinformatics entrepreneurs. In their founder's history, Joseph Walder was a biochemistry professor and entrepreneur who founded Integrated DNA Technologies (IDT), while Elizabeth Walder, an experienced immigration lawyer and IDT's Chief Sustainability Officer, emphasized sustainable business practices and global impact.
