What is Living Cities?

Living Cities is a collaborative of the world's leading philanthropic foundations and financial institutions focused on closing racial wealth gaps in U.S. cities. With a vision that all people in U.S. cities are economically secure, building wealth and living dignified lives, their mission is to close the racial wealth gap using the collective power of their membership and partnering with local governments.

They strive to advance inclusive capital along key wealth-building pathways for Black, Indigenous, Latine, and Asian Americans.

Living Cities' approach includes areas of focus such as addressing barriers to wealth equity, fostering equitable entrepreneurial ecosystems and greater access to capital for business ownership, increasing homeownership among historically excluded communities, and urging venture capital and private equity to invest more substantially in BIPOC fund managers and entrepreneurs.

Additionally, they aim to dismantle current racist narratives and establish norms of shared humanity and sustainability. They routinely engage in research and data analysis to fuel their purpose, ensure learning, and strengthen the impact of their collaborative work.
