What is Italian Business Angel Network?

Italian Business Angel Network (IBAN) is the premier association for Business Angels in Italy, with over 20 years of experience in promoting and supporting the growth of startups and entrepreneurs. As an angel network, IBAN brings together individual angel investors and provides a platform for them to syndicate and invest collaboratively, leveraging both personal expertise and collective financial resources. The association plays a critical role in the Italian entrepreneurial ecosystem by facilitating direct investments from business angels into Italian startups, as well as startups abroad that have Italian founders.

In 2023, IBAN's members participated, both independently and through syndication with venture capital funds, in investment operations totaling around 680 million euros. IBAN offers various programs to support and educate potential and existing angel investors, including training courses in partnership with the Italian Private Equity Venture Capital Association (AIFI) and highlights the importance of understanding risk capital to support SMEs.

They have also institutionalized events like the Energy Investor Forum 2025 to focus on specific investment sectors and provide specialized forums for investors and startups. The network supports a wide range of sectors, as evidenced by their project gallery showcasing diverse startups, with examples such as Wink Suite, Cassandra & Spectra, and Godivino.

IBAN is legally recognized as an association with a fixed capital and works to further an ideal startup ecosystem through advocating for favorable regulations for startups. In line with its mission to foster innovation, IBAN encourages startups to engage with its network and offers investors access to vetted projects.
