What is Eigenspace?

Eigenspace is an investment fund that focuses on nurturing the growth and development of companies within the education sector and beyond. They specialize in providing seed to Series B funding to early-stage companies, with an investment sweet spot of $1,500,000.

Eigenspace dedicates their efforts to the Waterloo community, particularly aiming to invest in people and their future. They offer a unique program that assists Waterloo students and alumni in transforming their ideas into viable businesses, supporting innovation and fostering growth.

The investment range of the fund starts at a minimum of $100,000 and caps at $5,000,000. Eigenspace runs a cohort program every four months to help students develop their ideas through peer groups and education.

They aim to select up to 15 highly motivated students per term, with applications being continuously open. Through their program, students have access to weekly informative sessions, discussions, and can engage either remotely or in a hybrid format. Mentorship from experienced Waterloo alumni plays a critical role in guiding these students, with monetary investments being tailored for different applicants.

Eigenspace endeavors to create a strong sense of community among its participants through shared experiences and peer support. They incorporate mentorship opportunities and help new founders to receive vital, timely advice specific to their needs.

The program's flexibility allows aspiring entrepreneurs at different stages—from idea conception to raising capital—to find suitable group mentorship settings. Eigenspace collaborates with Startupbarn and utilizes platforms like Notion and Substack to disseminate valuable knowledge and updates.
