What is Climate-KIC?

Climate-KIC is Europe's leading climate innovation agency and community, specializing in supporting cities, regions, countries, and industries to realize their climate goals through systems innovation and place-based transformations. This fund targets investments in European companies that contribute to moving towards a net-zero carbon economy.

With a focus on early-stage, seed, and Series A funding, Climate-KIC aims to finance ventures from pre-seed/pre-revenue stages up to Series A, with investment amounts ranging from €50,000 to €1,000,000. Climate-KIC orchestrates large-scale demonstrations to exemplify potential outcomes when cycles of innovation and learning are engineered to catalyze exponential decarbonization and resilient communities.

Their investment thesis involves generating, implementing, and integrating climate solutions by mobilizing finance, experimenting with business models, and encouraging institutional and behavioral change. They are an active member of the Systemic Climate Action Collaborative.

Their initiatives span various sectors, ranging from fostering circular, regenerative, and low-carbon economies in Slovenia to transitioning to climate-neutral agri-food sectors in Ireland, and leading the transformation towards climate neutrality by 2030 for over 100 European cities through the NetZeroCities and Pathways2Resilience programs.

Additionally, they work on building Tanzania's climate resilience and embedding gender equality into climate innovation.
