Tom Siegel serves as Managing Director and is a Co-Founder at Shepherd Ventures. He focuses on investments in technology, with particular emphasis on software and services, internet, digital media, mobile/wireless as well as food manufacturing and marketing. Past investments have resulted in many acquisitions and public offerings. Prior to Shepherd Ventures, Tom was a Senior Vice President with Advantage Capital Partners, a large early stage venture fund. He has also been a Managing Director of Illinois Ventures. Prior to Advantage Capital, Tom founded and/or served as President and Chief Executive Officer of various companies, primarily in the software, food, and publishing industries. Earlier in his career, Tom was a Management Consultant with, and a member of the M&A Group of KPMG. Tom received a BA in Economics and an MBA from the University of Illinois. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and also holds the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). He is a member of the CFA Institute, is a past Chairman and President of the CFA Society San Diego and past board member of Software San Diego.
