Astronaut in Waiting, Virgin Galactic / Managing Partner Aera VC
I'm focusing my energies these days on ideas at the intersection of today’s societal and sustainability challenges with creative, entrepreneurial responses to them. I’m inspired by a blend of ancient and modern wisdom, unorthodox thinking, the possibilities of the future, the amazing potential of the human spirit and the belief that each of us are here to do something purposeful and unique with our time on earth. I increasingly live my life through ‘Aera’ - a charitable foundation that I formed as a studio to breathe life into social innovations primed to reframe the status quo for a sustainable and happy future. Aera also invests in entrepreneurs that are doing the same, via Aera VC and is working to build an authentic alliance of transformational agents around the world. Kicking off a precedent Aera aspires to carry forth, in 2011 I donated a year of my life (became two..) to co-found with Sir Richard Branson and Jochen Zeitz what is now The B Team. A non-profit leadership group of over twenty amazing global leaders, The B Team is a catalyst for bold dialogue, courageous leadership and brave business action toward a fairer, greener and more human economy. During the pandemic I created and still host an online conversation series at the intersection of psychology and spirituality. “Wiser Conversations” takes place with leading thinkers from around the world and is also available as a podcast. Fresh out of university, I co-founded The Hyperfactory, one of the first companies in the world to recognise the potential of mobile devices for connecting consumers, brands and mass media. It’s now the most awarded mobile agency globally (acquired by Time Inc/Meredith Corporation (NYSE:MDP). After a decade building media and technology start-ups, I spent a few years helping others build their dream company through Human Ventures in New York. I love space. So signed up to go there with Virgin Galactic.
